COOKING RELIGION

MULTIMEDIA INSTALLATION
BY ELEONORA MARINO

ARTISTIC RESIDENCE AT HOUILLES
FOR THE BIENNALE OF YOUNG CREATION 2008

An avenue of potatoes and onion braids leads us to a "kitchen ": a set table becomes the screen for a video-projection and a refrigerator becomes Madonna altar, surrounded by plastic flowers and cheese candles... A tomb of food packaging under the gaze of a "human " apron. This is a multimedia installation, interactive and itinerant.

Since 2008, Eleonora Marino has created many installations, shown in different places: galleries, museums, festivals, outdoor urban sites, "in situ", cultural and entertainment centres, theatres, town halls...

Small daily rituals like those celebrated in the kitchen disappear with the trend of the globalizing world. It’ s man who becomes impoverished, not just the collection of recipes. EM

« Eleonora Marino confronts spiritual and earthly food. The meaning of religious involvement in the flesh. It doesn’t matter what you eat, here the products are presented as consumer goods rather than food. As the title of the exhibition suggests, Cooking Religion, is the relationship between food and religion. » Altritaliani

« It’s from the first few years of life that, most often, memories of the kitchen come back. »  Le Quercitain

«The company achieves a double objective: the realization of an original creation and initiation of public artistic expression and their own creative world. » The Ovillois
